If you find yourself wandering through thrift shops in Texas on a Saturday morning, you might just stumble upon the next rising star in Christian pop, Claire Leslie.
Claire’s alternative pop music is rapidly growing in popularity around the world, especially on 96five where her single Passenger Seat is already a crowd favourite.
Now with a collection of six tracks equally as fun and exciting as Passenger Seat, Claire has released her debut EP Twenty Something. This collection of tracks are rooted in authenticity and makes the listener want to feel more like themselves just by hearing it. To sum Twenty Something up in three words, there’s no skips.
Claire spoke to 96five’s Joe and Iris on their Saturday morning show, sharing her thoughts and excitement on her new releases.
“It’s been incredible… I feel like this is the little celebration party” Claire said.
“It’s been so awesome. [Twenty Something] came out March 21st, and it’s just been such a dream”.
In a world where conformity often overshadows authenticity, Claire’s EP brings hope and life to those who listen, through fun melodies and heartfelt lyrics.
But Claire isn’t waiting for her new music to be stumbled upon, rather she’s taking it straight to the stage by opening for Forest Frank on his current ‘CHILD OF GOD’ tour. Not only is this an opportunity to share her music with thousands of people, but Claire recognises that there is something bigger happening in the American music scene.
”I’m still freaking out about it” Claire said.
“Like straight up fan girl. I absolutely love what he’s doing, especially in the Christian space.”
“There is like a straight up revival happening right now in the Christian space. And it’s so, so special to get, to see all the artists kind of rising up and making these super honest and vulnerable songs.” Claire Leslie
“People are listening now more than ever and I’m just honoured to be a part of it.”
The final track on Twenty Something is the newest addition to the 96five playlist, 24/7 by Claire Leslie, another song that reminds us that God is always with us.
“24/7 is a song I wrote to God and it’s like a love letter to him. It’s just all about how he is ever present.”
“He’s in the little things. He’s in the big things in all the moments, and it’s easy for us to just get busy and distracted and forget to look around and see him everywhere.”
“That song is a reminder for me, it’s a reminder for everyone who’s listening, that there really is a little slice of heaven everywhere we look.”
