It’s a good news, bad news situation. We’re sad but we’re also excited for the next season.
After four years, Jess Drummond has announced she will be finishing up her time as the 96five Drive Announcer and will be stepping into a new season.
Jess has shared her heart and life with listeners from 3pm to 7pm each day and while we are going to miss her, we share in her excitement and the peace she feels about this big decision.
“It has been one of the biggest privileges of my life to host The Drive Show” Jess shared in her announcement on Wednesday.
“Some days I still can’t believe that I was afforded the opportunity, after a number of years reading your news bulletins, but I’m so grateful to the station for taking a chance on me with this announcer’s role, and to you for listening.”
“I am excited for what’s ahead – I’ll be taking some time off and going overseas. There are some unknowns about the future, for which I humbly appreciate your prayers, but I feel a real peace about it, and know that God is right in the midst of it all.”

In the past four years, Jess has journeyed with listeners through the highs and lows – floods and cyclones and an elusive NSW Blues State of Origin victory – and while there’s been lots of fun and shenanigans (Brissy Mic Drop, Sing for the Win and trying to stump listeners with Themed Thread Thursdays), the thing Jess will remember most is the listeners stories.
“Thank you so much for tuning in and taking an interest” Jess shared.
“Whether you’ve been with me from the beginning or whether you just flicked over today… I really love my listeners”.
Jess has brought warmth, wisdom and wit to each Drive show and we are going to miss her in the office and on the air.
Jess’ last show will be Thursday (17th April 2025) but in the meantime, let’s share the love. Let us know your favourite Drive moments with Jess and what she means to you. Get in touch via social media or of course, our text line: 0447 965 965.
