3. Cirque Alice
Step into magical ‘Wonderland’ as Cirque Alice reimagines Lewis Carroll’s classic adventures with breathtaking twists and astonishing, gravity-defying feats.
Starring the greatest acrobatic performers from around the globe, this magnificent spectacle features stunning performances by mesmerising aerialists, mind-bending contortionists, exquisite puppetry and special guest musical and comedic artists – set against an enthralling soundtrack of newly arranged contemporary renditions of some of the world’s favourite classical hits. 4. Discovering Ancient Egypt at Queensland Museum Kurilpa
Featuring more than 200 objects spanning 3000 years, the exhibition allows visitors to step into the world of pharaohs, gods, and hieroglyphs, and explore meticulously curated artefacts, and intricate objects that offer a glimpse into the daily lives, beliefs, and innovations of the ancient Egyptians.
Visitors will be able to peel back the layers of history through recent CT scans conducted on Egyptian mummified human and animal remains, with the results of the analysis being made public in Australia for the first time via a cutting-edge digital interactive.
Other highlights include colourful papyrus sheets of the Egyptian Book of the Dead; a sizable collection of exquisitely painted funerary coffins; and a group of beautifully carved statues from the Saqqara necropolis. Find out about how to visit this exhibit here.
5. Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium Cosmic Shows
If your little ones are interested in all things astronomical, then this is our pick for fun things to do in the school holidays with them. You can view regular shows in the Cosmic Skydome which are projected onto the dome. These shows are recommended for different age groups, so check that detail when deciding which show to go to. There is also the Galaxy Gift Shop where you can buy all things cosmic.

7. Hit Up a Heated Pool
Brisbane kids are swimming kids and that doesn’t have to stop as the weather cools down. There are a bunch of pools all across the city that are heated to ensure you, and the kids can enjoy a splashing good time any time of the year! With temperatures listed at all the heated pools, we found this list of heated pools across Brisbane to be the most comprehensive!
8. Top Up Your Chocolate Intake
Hop along to Jimboomba Central on Saturday, 12 April 2025 for their FREE Eggcellent, Eggstravagant, and Eggciting Easter Egg Hunt! Thousands of eggs will be hidden and scattered on the grass. Plus, the Easter Bunny, Easter Chicken, a Face Painter, Balloon Twister and Roving Easter themed Character on Roller Skates will be spreading joy across the centre.

9. Easter Family Day & Markets at Portside Wharf
You’re sure to keep the kids entertained, with an adorable line-up of furry friends making their way to the precinct, a guest appearance from the Easter Bunny, and a series of free epic kids’ workshops from 10am to 2pm, with 120 spots available via walk-in or bookings made on the on the day at the registration desk.
Enjoy live music, as you browse more than 35 stallholders returning to the precinct for the special Easter Market, bringing with them one-of-a-kind and unique offerings in beauty, handmade jewellery, ceramic and art pieces, toys and craft, homewares, plants, and much more.

10. Bluewater Festival at Shorncliffe
Organised by the Sandgate Bayside Chamber of Commerce, the famous Bluewater Festival at Shorncliffe Pier is one not to be missed and a memorable day out with family and friends.
The festival will kick off on Thursday, April 17, from 4 PM to 8 PM, offering a relaxing afternoon by the water. Attendees can enjoy a variety of food trucks, live music, and refreshing drinks.
On Friday, April 18, the festival will be in full swing from 9:30 AM to 8 PM at Moora Park in Shorncliffe. The day will be filled with entertainment, including live bands, kids’ workshops, rides, food stalls, and markets. The festivities will culminate in a beach party and fireworks in the evening.
The Bluewater Festival is held on the scenic foreshore at Shorncliffe in conjunction with the annual Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race. It’s a perfect vantage point to watch the start of this iconic race plus an opportunity to see the Multihull Yacht race start up close off the Pier.
