New York has been turned a distinct shade of blue this week, with the Bluey Stage Show beginning its US tour at Madison Square Garden.
A number of Bluey cast and crew made their way to the Big Apple for the US debut of Bluey’s Big Play, with stars of the show Dave McCormack (Bandit) and Melanie Zanetti (Chilli), finally meeting face to face for the first time!
Custard front man McCormack is based in Sydney, while Zanetti, who still calls Brisbane home, spends much of her time in the US and Europe with her acting career.
In only a few short years the Brisbane show about a family of blue heeler dogs has become the biggest thing in children’s television, with the three seasons produced having spawned a global fan base and merchandising empire.

The show also lists a who’s who of celebrities as massive fans of the show, with The Tonight Show’s Jimmy Fallon also nailing his colours to the mast overnight.
“It’s the best show on TV right now”, the late-night TV star told the voices of Bandit and Chilli Heeler.
“The show is so funny, it’s clever and it’s game changing. I love it so much and I’ve heard more of your voices than I’ve heard of my voice in my house…and the kids aren’t even watching, it’s just me!”
Dave McCormack and Melanie Zanetti’s appearance on The Tonight Show coincided with the Madison Square Garden shows, but also a Bluey balloon being featured in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
McCormack told Jimmy Fallon that he was blown away by the success of Bluey.
“We did the pilot and I thought it would be a one off, short animation and now here we are…bigger than the Beatles!”
