Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Winter School Holiday program (24 June to 9 July) is jam-packed with fun-filled activities and events across libraries, galleries, museums and environmental centres as well as the ever-popular Active Holidays program.
Mayor Peter Flannery said families can enjoy a budget-friendly break while keeping the kids entertained.
“Our popular school holidays program is back with plenty of cool events and activities for children and teens aged 3 to 17 years,” Mayor Flannery said.
“There’s so much to do at our libraries across the region. If you’ve got kids in high school, they can design and 3D print an object, create a character for tabletop roleplaying games, make an inspiration card deck with local artist Chrissy Foreman, and make their own stickers with our Cricut machines.
“Younger kids can meet a baby T-Rex through our Dino Encounters program, write their own choose-your-own-adventure story with author Dave Lowe, make a robot play a song, or discover the science behind music at our Exploratorium.
Bookings are now open for the Moreton Bay Regional Council Active Holidays program.
“You’ll find program favourites such as archery lessons in Joyner, trampolining in Kippa-Ring, softball in North Lakes, tennis in Ferny Hills and boxing in Caboolture” Mayor Flannery said.
“Plus, there’s fun size hip hop, fishing, drumming, skateboarding, gymnastics, Kinetic Kids multi-sports and mindfulness, offered at multiple locations across the region.
“New to the program these holidays is horse riding at Bribie Island where kids (8 to 17 years) can learn about safety around horses, horse care, building trust and navigating obstacles with their horse.

The Brisbane City Council is also hosting a variety of workshops to help keep the kids occupied during the winter break with everything from beginner skate workshops to photography and fishing workshops. Book the family in via the Brisbane City Council website.
