Did you think that your child is the only one who makes it nearly impossible to get out the door and off to school in the morning? Fear not, you’re not alone. And while this isn’t a parenting advice article, we do know that humour is often the best medicine.

Penn and Kim Holderness have recorded a parody to Boyz II Men’s “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday,” changing the lyrics to highlight the morning struggle most parents of school age kids go through.

“Getting downstairs, taking forever, staring at your pants in the hallway. It’s so hard to get them out the door, every day,” Penn sings.

In a blog post about the making of the YouTube video, Kim says, “Bottom line, our kids are not good at the morning routine, and it’s probably because WE aren’t very good at the morning routine. We shout every morning, we panic every morning, and inevitably we bend to their will every morning…HELP!!! Any advice on how to break the cycle and get them out the door in time?”

What are your tips to getting your kids up and ready in the morning?
