For the past three years, 96five has been proud to partner with Brisbane Domestic Violence Service for their Spread the Warmth appeal.

In 2021, Spread the Warmth has seen hundreds of women who have fled domestic violence supported and encouraged with the gift or a robe, hoody or snuggy.

The 96five offices were piled high with robes for Mums ahead of Mother’s Day, and if you donated an item we can’t thank you enough for getting on board.

Felise Lewis is from the Brisbane Domestic Violence Service and told 96five’s Ken & Nicky that she’s seen the difference a robe makes when she makes her deliveries to those Mums.

“When women and children are in safe accomodation around Mother’s Day it’s a really difficult time for them.  It can be a lonely space, so being able to give them a robe shows them the community is thinking of them and they’re not alone and that they’re special.”

Felise also told of a Mum who had just arrived in accomodation and broke down in tears after giving her a fluffy robe.

“When we gave her the robe we were able to listen to her story and there were lots of tears.  It was a really lovely moment in knowing that so many people were thinking of her.”

A big thank-you to everyone who donated robes for our annual ‘Spread the Warmth’ campaign! Every year in the lead up to…
