96five has once again partnered with Brisbane Domestic Violence Service for their Spread the Warmth campaign.
Over 150 robes were collected by the team from Brisbane Domestic Violence Service (BDVS) which are being distributed to domestic violence refuges across Brisbane.
BDVS is an activity of Micah Projects, and is a dedicated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, domestic and family violence support service.
Belinda Cox from BDVS told 96five’s Ken and Nicky how they were once again, blown away by the support from 96five listeners.
“It’s really been quite amazing, we’ve had such a huge response and I just want to say thank you Brisbane for opening up your hearts and opening up your wallets” Belinda said.
Spread the Warmth will see hundreds of women supported and encouraged with the gift or a robe or gown this Mother’s Day with over 400 robes being collected from 10 different collection points around Brisbane.
“The difference that this will make just in that small moment will be so huge.”
Belinda wanted to encourage those who participated that the gift of a robe for Mother’s Day has a lasting impact.
“It won’t just be in that moment. This will be something that they will have to take with them to their new life, that every time they wear it they’ll be reminded that the community cares about them.”
“They’ll be reminded that someone that they’ve never ever met thought about them and made sure that they had something to lift them up.”
Thank you, Brisbane for your generous support of Spread the Warmth 2022.
