The last four years have not been easy for single mum Tetiana Mozghova after relocating from the Ukraine in search of a better life.
The family have faced many challenges since arriving in Australia, and now Tetiana, a newly single mum, is juggling work life, home life as well as study in an effort to make ends meet.
Tetiana was a psychologist in the Ukraine, but because her degree was not recognised in Australia, she has been completing her thesis so she can meet the Australian qualification requirements. She’s also a mum to three kids aged 10, 7 and 3 and has been working four days a week, so it’s safe to say that Tetiana has had her hands full of late.
On top of all that, Tetiana’s eldest daughter is an elite gymnast, so most weeknights there are training schedules to work around.
There has been no immediate support with COVID travel restrictions meaning that Tetiana’s family can not travel from the Ukraine to help.

That’s where friend Esther Van Raalte stepped in and nominated Tetiana for a 96five SOS. The two mums met at their local pool while the kids were having swimming lessons, and the pair hit it off immediately.
“Tetiana is a beautiful soul who loves her family and others,” Esther told 96five. “She sows positivity into the lives of vulnerable youth through her youth work role, and is dedicated and active in her children’s social and sporting communities.
“The last year has been particularly hard for her; I’d love to show her that others want to love her back and most importantly let her know that she does have family here in Australia through her friends and community.”
We surprised Tetiana at the Carindale Recreation Reserve with a care pack that had been donated by Geoff Stebbing and his team from Alsco / Fresh & Clean.
“I feel so happy, this has really touched my heart,” Tetiana told 96five’s Ken and Nicky. But it was one particular gift that left Tetiana with a huge smile on her face – a family pass to Australia Zoo. “This has made my kid’s dreams come true” she said, beaming with joy.
“Thank you so much for doing this, it means so much to me and you can’t imagine how precious this is for our family.”
