Wear the White Ribbon & Unite Against Violence This November

Queenslanders are invited to join the growing movement to unite against domestic and family violence, by supporting White Ribbon Day and purchasing a ticket for the White Ribbon Day Breakfast on Friday 26 November 2021.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the annual breakfast event was an opportunity for Queenslanders to show their support for gender equality and the elimination of domestic and family violence.

“Whether it’s a relative, a friend, a work colleague, a neighbour or someone in their community, most Queenslanders would know someone who has experienced domestic or family violence,” the Premier said.

“All Queenslanders deserve to live in an environment free from intimidation, harassment and violence, and this year the Queensland Government has made real progress toward that vision.

“In March, we established the Women’s Safety and Justice Taskforce, which has been undertaking wide-ranging community consultation, and will deliver its first report later this year, with recommendations on how the Queensland Government can best legislate against coercive control.

“Queenslanders of all ages, and from all backgrounds, want to know what they can do to change the culture and attitudes which contribute to the cycle of violence.

“This year’s White Ribbon Day Breakfast will be an opportunity for Queenslanders to learn more about the challenges we face, and how Government, businesses and the community can work together to prevent and respond to domestic and family violence.”

The 2021 White Ribbon Day Breakfast will feature a panel of Queensland’s most respected advocates, speaking on issues including gender equality, sexual violence, community-led responses and Government reform.

With ABC’s Matt Wordsworth as Master of Ceremony, this year’s breakfast will include speakers such as:

• The Honourable Margret McMurdo AC, Chair of Legal Aid Queensland as Keynote Speaker
• Inspector Ben Martain, Manager, State and Family Violence and Vulnerable Persons Unit, QPS
• Harris Andrews, Vice Captain, Brisbane Lions
• Dr Brian Sullivan from the Responsible Men Program
• Michael Jeh, educator and public speaker

The White Ribbon Day Breakfast will be held on Friday 26 November 2021, from 7am–9am, at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Great Hall. Tickets are $95 per person or $900 for a table of 10 (all ticket costs are inclusive of GST and exclusive of booking fees).

Proceeds from the event will be donated to White Ribbon Australia and DVConnect.
