In the weeks leading up to Mother’s Day 96five joined with Brisbane Domestic Violence Service (BDVS) to help Mums seeking safety and protection from domestic violence situations!
We asked you to donate a new robe/dressing gown to help isolated mum’s this Mother’s Day and your response has been so heart-warming with almost 200 robes delivered just to the 96five studio’s in Alderley. Many more have been delivered to the other collection points.
On behalf of both 96five and BDVS – a very big thank you for being a part of ‘spread the warmth’ – you have blessed a whole heap of Mum’s in transitional housing this Mother’s Day. As they wrap themselves in their new robe this weekend may they also feel the love of a city!
Here’s a couple of pics of the robes being collected from the 96five studio’s on Friday morning.

BDVS says it best…
“As Mother’s day and Winter approaches we considered what it must feel like for these women who had experienced abuse for so long to be away from their own homes – having left so much behind to keep their children safe. Something like a warm fluffy robe isn’t a solution to domestic violence.
However, for the up to 70 women across Brisbane that will be sitting in transitional housing over the Mother’s Day period, it is a way to let them know that people care about them.
It’s a way that the community can let them know that they are also important on Mother’s day.”
P.S. Don’t know where to look? Best & Less, Target, Big W, K-Mart sell robes from $15-$39!
