When disaster strikes, Queenslanders rally.

Even as the rain continues to come down, we have seen Brisbane come together and provide coffee, charging outlets, showers and most importantly, hope.

Here’s a list of some of the different community efforts that we know of in Brisbane where affected residents and volunteers can receive support.

Relief Initiatives

Riverlife Church – Evacuation Centre

Riverlife have opened their doors and become an evacuation centre for anyone in need. They are provided food and beverages, phone charging, showers if need be and pets are welcome.

Alter – Pay It Forward – Coffee for Emergency Workers

The Alter team are heading out with their off-grid coffee 4WD to make free coffee for flood and storm affected communities as well as the emergency workers who are working hard on the ground in affected areas. If you would like to pay it forward and donate to help cover costs, you can check out their Go Fund Me.

Convoy of Hope – Emergency Response

In response to Cyclone Alfred’s devastation, Convoy of Hope Australia is actively involved in relief efforts, providing essential supplies and support to affected communities. Their teams are responding by delivering food, water, and other necessities to those impacted by the cyclone’s aftermath. Financial contributions allow Convoy of Hope us to purchase and distribute essential supplies efficiently and donations can be made online.

Citipointe Marketplace, open for food support

Citipointe Church Community Care has their marketplace open for emergency food hampers and low cost-food. Food hampers will be available this week (Monday to Friday between 9am-12pm) for those affected. The Citipointe Marketplace is located at 322 Wecker Road, Carindale however if you’re coming from the Northside, best entrance is 336 Scrub Road, Carindale.

Salvation Army Cyclone Alfred Appeal

The Salvation Army Emergency Services team (SAES) is on the ground, providing meals, refreshments and emotional support to those affected. We are also supporting emergency response teams with meals and refreshments as they work tirelessly to keep communities safe. You can donate to the appeal online or in person at Woolworths.

Government Support

The Prime Minister has announced that those eligible will be able to access the government’s Disaster Recovery Allowance via the myGOV website from 2pm Tuesday 11th March 2025.
