Currently, human trafficking is the world’s second fastest growing industry existing on every continent, in almost every country. Slavery plagues the world in forms ranging from child marriage, debt bondage and forced labour. Ultimately though it takes one thing from its 30 million victims – freedom.
And that’s why 160 climbers gathered in the Moogerah Peaks National Park on Friday for The Boonah Freedom Climb. Dedicated men, women and children of all shapes, sizes and fitness abilities trekked towards the peak of Mt Edwards to raise awareness and funds for The Freedom Challenge.
The Freedom Challenge is a movement of passionate people from all walks of life who are dedicated to freeing oppressed and enslaved women and children all around the world. They do this by participating in physical challenges that test physical limits, while raising funds and awareness to combat these dark, social injustices.
Fridays challenge has raised over $10,000 which will help set Cambodian women and children on the pathway to freedom. 96five would like to congratulate all of the climbers and volunteers scaled Mt Edwards for their efforts.
