Over 1 million children are exploited by sex trafficking around the world.
70% of children trafficked are from the Asia Pacific region and $99 billion is generated by sex traffickers each year – $11 million every hour.
Destiny Rescue’s mission is to rescue children from sexual exploitation and human trafficking and help them stay free. They do this through our rescue operations, reintegration programs, and prevention efforts and they are active in countries where the need to save is great.
To date, Destiny Rescue have helped to free more than 12,000 people from sexual exploitation with 3,000 of that in 2022 alone.
96five’s Alex Milne caught up with Robert Webber from Destiny Rescue about his experience selling up the family business to support the work of Destiny Rescue.
“We had a real estate business on the Sunshine Coast for 20 years but as a father of 5 children, three of which are daughters, when we heard about what Destiny Rescue are doing it was something that really touched our hearts and couldn’t imagine the pain of having your own children go through what we were hearing was happening around the world.”
“It moved us to sell up our business and to follow God’s calling to head out and move over to Cambodia. We spent 6 years over there managing homes and helping rescue kids out of the sex trafficking trade.”
“The problem does look like it’s impossible but we’ve learnt over the years how to identify these kids, where to find them and the right questions to ask and how to stay safe.”
