This Saturday will see many pause and reflect as part of the National Day of Prayer and Fasting (NDOPF), which will take place online via Zoom between 8am and 5pm (AEST).

The theme for this year is purity in Christ, with the scriptural theme being found in Psalms 51:10, “Create in me a pure heart O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

The primary goals of the National Day of Prayer & Fasting are to glorify God, to pray for revival and transformation across the country and to pray for God’s blessing for all Australians.  The day is also an opportunity to pray for Parliamentary leaders, National Leaders & Church leaders, as well as the ongoing safety and prosperity of the nation.

Once again, Indigenous Christian leaders will play a key role in leading the day’s prayers, following the success of recent NDOPF’s and the National Solemn Assembly held in late 2020.

Sally Cleland is a member of the Brisbane NDOPF Organising Team and told 96five’s Jess Drummond that she was thrilled to have First Nations Leaders involvement.

“We’re so grateful to see what God is doing in raising up our Indigenous leaders, and giving them a voice which is so important and crucial.”

Sally also said that the day will help bring unity following a difficult two years.

“All of the disunity and division around COVID has impacted churches just as much as we’ve seen in the wider community.  I think it’s really important to come back together as one people and with unity in the Holy Spirit.”

You can take part in the prayer gathering via Zoom or at a NDOPF live location between 8am and 5pm (AEST), with the Official Prayer Service taking place between 1pm and 2:30pm (AEST).
